PAGD Supercourses Including Opioid Training - Pittsburgh

PAGD's Spring Supercourses were a critical hit with PAGD members, so we are rolling out a new series of Supercourses around the new year. The following education will be available:

  • 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Local Anesthesia for Hygienists (concurrent session)

    PA Code Section 33.402(f): "
    A dental hygienist who holds a local anesthesia permit shall complete 3 of the required 20 hours of continuing education in courses related to the administration of local anesthesia, including pharmacology or other related courses."

    Dr. Frederick Lally and Dr. Michael Mermigas will be presenting this refresher course on proper local anesthesia administration.

  • 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Dental Patients and Opioids: Managing Risks (concurrent session)

    "To renew a license to practice dentistry or a restricted faculty license for the next renewal period, Section 9.1(a)(2) of ABC-MAP requires that all dentists complete at least two hours of continuing education in pain management, the identification of addiction or in the practices of prescribing or dispensing of opioids." - PA State Board of Dentistry

    Dr. Ronald Zentz RpH DDS, and Jennifer Flynn, CPHRM, from Dentist's Advantage, AGD's exclusive professional liability insurer, will lead this course for dentists.
  • 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Essential Steps to Completing a HIPAA Security Risk Analysis

    "For the average health care provider or health plan, the Privacy Rule requires activities, such as... Training employees so that they understand the privacy procedures." - US Department of Health and Human Services

    InUnison Consulting will present this course discussing the regulatory requirements when performing a SRA.

  • 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. OSHA Safety and Infection Control

    "Exposure to numerous biological, chemical, environmental, physical, and psychological workplace hazards that may apply to dentistry are addressed in specific OSHA standards for General Industry." - US Department of Labor

    InUnison Consulting will lead this course discussing the Hazard Communication Standard, the Bloodborne Standard, general safety requirements, and the CDC Guidelines for Infection Control in dental healthcare settings.
